Default $3000 To do mods... what to do?

Hey all im in the process of buying a 2002 trans am WS6 roller and i had 10k to spend. I picked up a 20k mile LS1/T56 package out of a 99 z28 from a friends dad to put in the TA and together those costed $7000 (the engine was 3k and the TA roller, in perfect condition was 4k). I thus i have 3000 left to do with as i please but im not really farmiliar with LS modifications and whatnot and whats the best stuff and what i can do with 3000... im looking for maybe around 400-450hp IF possible... can anyone tell me if thats possible and what i can do if it is?
Thanks!

Are you doing all the work yourself?

That's good. It will save you a ton of money. I'm not going to lie, but getting to that much RWHP on 3K will be a challenge. If you pay close attention to the classifieds on here you can find some great deals. Taking weight off is key from what I've learned. There is a ton of free mods on the installuniversity.com

Good luck!

Besides horse power...what are your goals for the car? Are you going to take it the track or just drive on the streets?

If you are just going to be driving on the street 400hp is certainly doable if you are doing all the work yourself.

Long tubes are a must and a great starting point regardless of what your intentions are.

Yeah its just gonna be my daily driver for street racing maybe some drag runs on the weekends but really just a fast car for street use.

if your going to mod a 6 speed car with intentions to race it both street and weekends at the track and have 3k to spend all at once spend it all on a rear end then do the hp mods a bolt on at a time...

if you do it the other way around spend 3k on power mods and make 400-450 hp with a 6 speed and race it street & track you will quickly spit out the stock rear and need to come up with another $3k to upgrade it

The rear will probably be fine as long as you only run street tires and don't have wheel hop issues. I'd go with Speed Engineering 1 7/8 headers and ORY ($400), SLP LM2 or Hooker Aero Chamber cat back (~$400), LS6 or home ported Dorman 615-900 "LS6" intake (~$325-450), SLP lid ($100), mail order tune ($100-150), Super Sucker Ram Air ($170), Koni STR.T or Bilstein HD shocks ($370), Tick Performance adjustable master cylinder ($325), Founders Performance single adjustable lower control arms ($110), Founders lower control arm relocation brackets ($48), Founders Performance adjustable torque arm ($235), J&M Products weld in 3pt subframe connectors ($175). That leaves you with ~$200 left over for miscellaneous parts and repairs you find along the way or Strano Performance lowering springs. It will probably only get you to 350-375 rwhp but it will be a more well rounded and fun to drive car.

I would do an 8.8 Ford rearend conversion from TNT Fab, all in with 10 bolt core it should run $1300 shipped with 3.55/3.73 or 4.10 gears.

Full rear suspension(Founders lca, lca relocate, panhard, adj. torque arm and new shocks/struts, approx $700 for non adjustable stuff and it'll make all the difference.

Speed Engineering Race 1 7/8" headers with ORY, $400. Stock catback is fine for now, if not, Hooker catback($400). Delete emissions.

Send the ECU off for a Frost tune, solid and easy at this level of parts and emissions deletes. $200

Lid $50-100.

SSRA/chrs1313/FTRA ram air, $200.

General maintenance or tires with any extra money.
