Thumbs up LS1-LS6 advise

In the process of doing an LS6 intake swap on my 98 LS1. Only upgrades on motor are a catback exhaust, SLP cold air kit and a polished TB. I was told it had a custom tune when I bought it. It is a low mileage car and runs well. My question is will I need to do a tune if im only swapping intakes? And if yes which tuner do you guys recommend? I don't want to go backwards in performance. If read a lot about intake swaps but nothing has been said about needing to do a tune. Thanks guys..... really appreciate your knowledge.

In terms of driveability and performance, there is no tuning "requirement" for a simple LS1 to LS6 intake swap. Having said that, if you live in a state with OBD scan emissions testing, then you'll need to consider some sort of basic tune as a requirement to delete the EGR code associated with removal of that system, otherwise you will fail due to the SES light that comes with deleting EGR without a tune.

^^ What he said, personally I would wait for more mods like longtubes before bothering with a tune.

Default LS! swap

My car already had the egr taken off. No light on now. Previous owner did a tune to turn light off.

Default L1 swap

Will I see any performance at all by just doing swap?

Small gains at best. The intake swap isn't worth much on a stock engine with stock exhaust manifolds, but as you do more modifications the LS6 intake will better support them vs. the LS1 intake.

Default Ls1-LS6 swap

Going to put a Comp HR265HR cam and long tube headers. That with the LS6 intake. They are going to upgrade my springs. So I hope I can get away with stock heads. Would really appreciate any more advice.

Any advice would be appreciated

Thank you guys very much
