Default horrible valve tap

How's it going guys I got a 98 Pontiac Trans Am I just got it the only upgrades I know of as of right now are the MSD coils BBK exhaust LS6 intake with EGR Delete and SLP air box cover. It has developed a horrible valve tap in the past 2 days since I got it . I'm thinking about just rebuilding my heads any suggestions on what would work best with what I have. Ex. Pushrod length hydraulic or solid lifters valve springs. Just looking for some suggestions. I'm not looking to get new heads right now so please don't suggest it. Thanks for all your help in advance

Are you sure its valve tap??? Take it out and let it warm up. I would go for a nice 30 min highway drive & see if noise goes away. My pewter z28 has that typical valve noise or whatever the heck it is and after 20-30 mins.... its gone. let it cool down & it comes right back. Mine has been doing that for 75,000 miles and no ill effects. Everyone tells me its piston slap...... My green z28 (same year as my pewter one) doesn't make that noise
