Default Help me build my WS6

Hello fbody friends lol. I'm looking for some help and advice for the next step in upgrades, I got a 2000 Trans Am WS6 with 103k on it. It has an LS6 intake, Yank SS 3600 stall & a shift kit, Speed Engineering LT headers with ORY ( I will be changing this setup for a Hooker Blackheart True Duals kit), Racetronix fuel pump upgrade, MSD wires. I have a $6,000 budget I can drop in mods. I'm looking to do a cam with full supporting mods, it will have to have good in town city drivability as the car is a daily driver. Also I would like the power and to be in the lower range as I only want to rev the motor to shift at 64-6500rpms max). Will my stock 10 bolt rear end be fine if I install 3.73's? Also should I look into a transmission upgrade? Thinking a built 4l60e but not sure where I should buy or have one built. If you guys had $6k to drop in mods what would it be if you were to choose tastefully for my car? I want to do full suspension mods also. any tips or advice on anything is appreciated I'm trying to build my dream WS6.

$6000? Where are you located. I'll build you a 1200 HP Twin setup for less than that.

Im in bay city, Michigan. And I'm looking to have good reliability here so I'm not sure on boost but if I were to go boost then it'd have to be a lower boost setup to net me around a reliable 450rwhp. As the car has 103k on it and I'm worried she'll blow, even with a cam. Whitch points me to my next question, if I did a cam only on stock heads with 103k on it, should I be worried about the valves at all from being worn? It will have the springs replaced of course tho. Not sure if I will have enough to do a heads and cam swap. I'm lookin for someone that does good work that could fit this in my budget and build and tune my car possibly.

I've boosted 300k mile junkyard engines to FAR above 450whp. This isn't 1970. 100k miles on these engines is still low mileage. You're not going to blow it with a cam. The biggest cam you could possibly squeeze in there on a stock long block won't make enough power to stress the stock bottom end.

But is the On3 a good reliable turbo kit? I heard they were junk and to stay away from them?

You could have yours built.... or turn it in as core exchange for a built 4L60E.... or sell it outright to pay for a non-core purchase..... or sell it outright to help fund upgade to 4L80E.

What you will do with the power determines how to go about it. Just daily driving with decent power? Roll racing? Drag racing? Canyon carver? AutoX? Road course? Cruises?

Sam Strano sells awesome suspension and brake combos, good for everything but drag racing really. Drag setups make a lot of compromises so you have to know your end goal.

Smile

RPM can build you a strong auto.

with 6k to work with you might want to get an ls2 and slowly go from there.
