First ls build...what to expect?
Hello all, building a 5.3 cast block, bored 20 over, ls6 heads no porting or polishing, Texas speed 220r cam, ls7 lifters, fast 92mm intake, nick williams 92 mm tb, stock 98 Trans am exhaust, 4l60e tranny rebuilt with a yank 3000 stall, going in an 87 camaro. Anything I need to add to make it run as good as it can for a NA car? What hp to expect? Thx all!!!

I agree with SS for the longtubes.
Some places let you start with a smaller stall, and then when you realize how much more you can get out of it (and you get bored with the ceiling you gave yourself) they let you get one switch out for free. I don't know specifically which vendors, unfortunately, but I'm pretty sure some of the ones that sponsor this site do it.

You're saying some conflicting things here. You say you want to make it as good as you can n/a (youre not even close with a small cam and stock ls6 heads), but then it sounds like you talked to Texas speed and told them you just want a street rod. So which is it, do you want a max effort n/a engine, or just a street car to drive around?
What is your power goal? If no power goal what about strip time goal? These are the things you should be telling the engine builder, be as specific as you can and tell them everything you want out of it. How you want it to drive, idle, gas mileage, reliability, powerband etc.

Im certainly no expert but Id be surprised to see that number given stock exhaust, baby cam and untouched ls6 heads on a 5.3l through a stalled auto. Id bet it would be closer to 350rwhp, with full exhaust 400rwhp is probably close.

400hp is what I was hoping for....only bored 20 to clean the cylinders up, dont think it will make much of a difference on hp, guess I'll full exhaust her and hope for the best! Thinking about 411 gears, when I get that far. What's your thoughts on that?

A 3000 stall speed isn't even enough to take full advantage of the stock cam, and it's certainly not enough to be optimal for anything bigger than stock (even a little 220 cam). I'd recommend a 3500 minimum; that might sound high but it's a common mistake for those not experienced with LS1s to understall - and 3k is definitely understalled for that setup IMO.
