leave it (and the spare) out and throw in a can of fix-a-flat. Your car just lost 35 lbs!

I took out my spare and jack to go to the track one time and could never put the jack back in either.

the jack was never any big deal for me. it was always the spare. i think you just have to make sure it fits under the carpeting and that the post fits through the hole, then screw on the top. thats the best i can remember though, cause i left my jack and spare out.

Yee haw , i figured it out, Thanks its under the crapet. Man what a bad design. You wonder why a 34,000 car has such a cheap, shitty engineered spare setup. My problem was that i thought the jack fit inside the rim of the spare(good idea huh?). The reason i need to put it back in after going to the track is that i have already had a blow out that fix a flat would not have helped and would have been a long tow.

Fix-A-Flat can be bad....you'll have a hell of a time trying to balance that wheel again. Granted it's good in a cramp to get you home or whereever...and if you're scrapping the tire afterwards. Just don't plan on patching the tire and then trying to balance it with it in there. You'd have to clean out the entire inside of the tire to get it to balance again.
