Default New member to LS1 from Kansas got a question or two.

Ok I just got my first ls1 to put in my 70 gmc for a winter project, to give you a short rundown of what I have, It is a 5.3 bored to a 5.7, 24 x 5.7 crank, 317 heads arp head studs, ls7 lifters, ls6 springs,ls6 comp cam and pushrods, bbk fuel rails, ls1 intake. My question is he said he was building this for turbo i don't really want to go turbo because of added expense I know those are built with lower comp heads so what heads should i get to swap out for the 317's without spending a bunch to make decent power also what injector should i use, any advise would be helpful. If I posted in the wrong area I'sorry will try not to next time, new to the forum thing too.

Welcome.

If your going to keep this a N/A motor I would look at swapping them for some 243 or 799 casting heads. Depending on what gasket he used you could be in the low 9's for compression. Do you know the specs of the cam that's in the motor ?
