Default LS1 sump pipes

Want to know about the two pipes inside a LS1 front sump. They run from the oil filter down the inside of the sump and are blocked off near the rear with threaded plugs. I was hopping to connect an oil cooler into them. Appreciate any info.

The oil cooler adapter needs to be bolted in place of the bypass cover, directly above the oil filter. So that's at the front of the pan.

You CANNOT connect an oil cooler adapter on the rear ports. If you do, you will be bypassing the oil filter completely.

You can't use a regular oil cooler adapter on these front sump pans because of interference with the alternator, etc. Improved Racing makes a special oil cooler adapter specifically for front sump pans. This is the only one on the market. The other options on the market are from other companies that copied our old design.

Here's a link to the oil cooler adapter: http://www.improvedracing.com/oil-co...ines-p-82.html

The only other option is to use a sandwich plate, but this will lower your oil filter below the level of the pan, which you don't want.
