What size cutout for factory exhaust?
My 1998 Z28 convertible still has bone stock exhaust on it. I want to put an electric cutout on it and I'm gonna get it tuned.
What size cutout should I use on the stock piping? Also, can I delete the catalytic converter? Is it worth doing?
Need an an idea of exactly what to do and what to buy.

I think it's a 2.5 inch exhaust. If you remove the catalytic converter it will throw a check engine light unless you get the codes tuned out. QTP is a good brand of cutouts.

The factory I-pipe (which is usually where a cutout would be placed) is actually 2.75" in diameter. So if you can't find what you want in that size, I'd rather go 3" and modify the fit (adapters/welding/flaring/etc.)
Yes, you can delete the cats but on a '98-'99 exhaust system the passenger side cat will need to be cut off (they are not modular on both sides like the '00+ exhaust system.) Since you're already planning on a tune, that can also take care of the SES light from cat removal.

^^ What RPM said.
I've had QTP 3" cutout in my factory I-pipe for about ~4-5 years now. I'd personally wait until you get long tubes and a Y-pipe (if you plan on getting them, that is) to get a tune.
