Wanting to do some type of mod to my car

I have a 98 z28 and my current mods are in my sig.

I have around 500$ to do something to my car.

Either to make more hp or to make it sound louder. Either going to true duals/ X pipe? Or maybe having my car tuned for the small mods it already has done?

Any opinions are welcomed.

With my job status I do not see anywhere in the near future I could do any major work. I believe I'd need around 3k to work on H/C/I

You could save a little more and buy a decent torque converter.

98CayenneT/A 03-10-2018 10:15 PM

Converter if you can bump that $500 up a bit.

Electric cutout for a exhaust mod.

HCI2000SS 03-10-2018 10:28 PM

I vote the converter

Wouldn’t that be around $800-$1000 for a good 3600-3800?

Electric cutout to go where? Read my sig for my exhaust.

Only other option short of going to LT’s is to do true duals / X pipe

Yes on the price, If it's a daily driver I would look at something in the 3,000-3,200 range. A 3,600 would be fine on the street but probably not the best choice for a commuter use type vehicle.
Probably the best bang for your buck as far as seat of the pants acceleration improvement. It will also be needed later when you do a cam swap.

We put a completely stock 155,000 mile LQ4 6.0 4l80e truck engine in a 73 Nova and with the stall and long tube headers the car will shred the tires from a dead stop and will still put down some rubber from a rolling start.

Circle-D has a 3000-3200 stall converter designed for daily driving. It's about $800 shipped.

I have a circle d 3200 stall that cost me about $530 shipped from Texas Speed

After talking to another member on here they think I should go ahead and do a tune on my car. I never had one done since I did the headers and exhaust since it was only small mods done to the car. Also since now it will be a long while until I will be able to do H/C/I.

Figure that will run around 400$. Hopefully less

Tune is a good idea as well

R6cowboy 03-12-2018 08:23 AM

If you're not going to mod the car any more for quite a while, tune is a good idea at the moment.

To OP,what are the rear end gears,2.73 or 3.23 ?

just got quoted 500$ for a tune. Isn’t that overpriced? Or am I wrong? Everything I’ve seen on here it should be 350$-400$ for a dyno tune. Or 450$ for a dyno tune when you have h/c/I.

Does anyone know of any good tuners around ft Myers Florida that could help me out?

98CayenneT/A 03-12-2018 05:28 PM

Initial tunes are usually around $450 then after that is a case by case for tweaks/changes ect.

My first dyno tune I paid $500 and my TA is h/c/I

Second tune was a street tune w/same mods because the dyno tune was all f**ked up. I paid $225 for that.
I live in TX.
