Default LQ9 5.3 questions

My friend has a LQ9 5.3 thats been bored out to a 5.7 that im wanting to swap into my jeep.
I'm just trying to get info on the motor.
Anytime i look it up online. I keep getting a LQ9 6.0L
If i get parts for a 6.0L should it fit the 5.3L?
Im new to learning about motors and this will be my first motor swap

What does it say on the back of the block...6.0 (LQ4 or LQ9) or 5.3/4.8 (LM7 or L33)

That's because LQ9's are 6.0 liter motors. There never was a LQ9 5.3

He had a 5.3 bored out to make it a 5.7, he never had an LQ9 and it's still not a LQ9, it's still smaller than an LQ9.

Depends which parts you're looking for but anything but pistons will fit, the 5.3 pistons are 3.78" bore, the 5.7 motor will now have 3.9x" bore and the LQ9 has 4.00" bore

Thats what I was afraid of.
So first things first. Go see the motor first. (We went to school together he moved) then find out from there. It should have a serial# or a stamp on it though right?
If not how do i find put what 5.3 motor it was?

Okay. So assuming it's the LM7 or L33 would they be worth building in an
off-road/daily driver jeep?

Man I really hate to be “That Guy”

But this has been discussed 1000s of times on mild 4.8/5.3/6.0 builds

Yes, probably one of the most common/popular swapped engine.

Its all good. I'm new to this forum. I figured it might have been asked somewhere. I haven't found a way to actually search for a thread yet (if you're even able to). But now have an idea on what to look for and areas to find it.

It doesn't matter which 5.3 is WAS cause it's a 5.7 now.

You already know everything you need to know, when you go look at it you're gonna see an iron block motor that used to be a 5.3. It won't be aluminum because you can't bore those out to make a 5.7 and it's not a 6.0 because 6.0 cylinders start out larger than a 5.3 bored to a 5.7.

The block will be stamped with either a 4.8 AND 5.3 mark if it was either one. If it was a 6.0 it'll be stamped 6.0. But you already know it was a 5.3 bored out.

ANY of them is worth building in a swap toy, hell even the 4.8 is enough. But seeing as we all always want more the 6.0 would be better but again, even a 4.8 could be plenty of fun. So obviously a 5.7 would also be great too.

GENERALLY SPEAKING the heads, intakes, water pumps, headers, oil pans, oil pumps, cams etc etc etc are swap-able between them all too. There gets to be some things you have to change if you're mixing gen 3 and gen 4 stuff, cathedral port and rectangle port, and mixing 6.0 heads/pistons on smaller motors, but for the most part everything fits everything. Don't run off and just buy random parts based on that statement, it's a general statement to give you the general idea that the blocks and heads etc interchange. Do your research before trying to swap parts because there are a few situations that it won't work unless you adapt something.
