Default Oil pressure gauge

I have a '01 z28 camaro with a mild cam and some other minor modifications, the ls1 in it is fairly fresh with about 4k miles on it since rebuild. I used to get 60-65 pound of oil pressure off a cold start and always over 40 pounds when warm. Then one day i noticed it a little lower than usual but i didnt think anything of it and every day it seemed to get lower. Sometimes when starting it up now the gauge doesn't even read anything and ill get the "check gauges" warning light then it jumps up to around 40 then drops off to maybe 15-20 when warm. I know the oil pressure gauges in these things kinda suck and the car runs great so i doubt it spun a bearing or something internal. I'm just curious if anyone knows a way to get the gauge working properly without putting a new cluster in it.

Have you tried replacing the sending unit?

Not really with the correct socket. Remove coil pack for more clearance.

I mean I know that but I'd rather not risk breaking it and saving time by just doing it when I do my H/C/I

10-4, I just didn't know if you wanted to drive around another month or so not knowing why/if low oil pressure.
Dropping it out the bottom I assume?

I've been driving the car a few months like that no issues but No I'm actually doing it the "hard way" out of the top because I don't have access to a 2 post. I have to pull the trans out anyway when I do it so it's just going to be a short block when I do h/c/I so pulling it should be cake after that. Hopefully.

My 1998 WS6 A4 jumps around quite a bit at times, but the fact that you get CONSISTENTLY low pressure concerns me. If you're sure it's fine, good. Just be aware that in my 1997 Firebird V6 with the 3800 II, my oil gauge started to do that and I literally took out bearings like you said. But as long as you're good, cool.

Normally i would be a little worried but the fact that it is a fresh rebuild and the gauge reads nothing for a little then instantly hits 40 pounds almost like flipping a switch suggests to me that its likely not something mechanical but hey I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong again so anything could happen
