Default Cam suggestions

Hello everyone. Looking for help from the experts that have done this so I came to this awesome site. I have a 1998 Trans am. Automatic, NON WS6. Its bone stock other than I added the factory ram air to it, (factory R/A hood, and factory R/A air box) and a cat back Borla exhaust. Just turned 100K miles today. Runs perfectly, no issues with the car at all. I want to do a cam swap and wanted some opinions on what to go with. I want the most I can get out of a cam swap without any issues like dash lights, etc. Its basically a daily driver, stored inside over the winters. I do some weekend racing at the track, nothing serious. Just want to boost up some power. Thanks!

You should start by doing a full exhaust with long tube headers

We have great cam selections! I would suggest our Stage 1 cam for you being an auto with basic mods. This will gain great power and retain good drivability. https://www.livernoismotorsports.com/product/LPP801111

You will need upgraded valve springs for this, and with your miles it would be a really good idea to take your heads off to install some LS7 lifters. https://www.livernoismotorsports.com/product/LPP811112

I would do as previously mentioned and get a full exhaust. Next I would pick up a higher stall torque converter and transmission cooler. Then...I would get a cam, something similar to a Torquer v2. [e.g. 23x/23x 0.6xx"/0.6xx" 112 lsa]

+ at the very least a Ls6 intake.
Get rid of that ls1 intake

+2 on the headers, stall, cooler, intake, then tune. You will be surprised how much seat-of-the-pants you'll feel.
Cam, springs, lifters and oil pump = next step.

A great way to compliment a cam is headers and a new intake. Especially changing that LS1 intake. These are notorious for not sitting correctly and love to invite dirt and grime and other nasties in.
