New 4th Gen Owner
Hi all, ive owned several 3rd gen cars but this is 2nd 4th gen car. I had a 97 trans am that i loved and now just bought a 98 z28. I got it from the original owner who was a 59 year old woman. She was nuts with the car. Gave me every piece of documentation since day 1. Car is 100% stock even the stock radio is still in it. Paid 3800. Good?

The first thing i wanna do is put new wheels and tires on the car. Seeing there are thousands of options and all seem good, i think i wanna put the c4 17inch corvette wheels on. 17x9.5 with the 38mm offset so they sit flush. Can anyone say this is a good setup from experience? I know there are many things to be done to get it to handle better i just figured id start with that cause it needs tires soon anyway. Any help or advice would be great. Ive been a harley tech for 20 years so im very mechanically in tune with things so dont be shy lol

I thought so especially since its so clean and almost like new. Not sure what its worth but more than what i paid im thinking. I sold my 97 ta which had 160k on it for 4500. It was also mint but i know the ls1 cars pull more money. First ls1 car and i thought my lt1 was quick lol. Bone stock and it rips wow

Good luck with the new-to-you car, I'm sure it will be fun.

Hello RPM WS6 I had a question for you about the wheels. You said the 46mm offset would be better for the front with the 275 40 tires. What about the rear? Use the 46mm offset in the rear also?

The rear can handle a more aggressive offset at 9.5" width than the front, but you'll be limited by what is offered in whatever style of wheel you choose (e.g. I don't think anyone makes a 17x9.5" C4ZR1 style wheel with a 46mm offset, etc.)
