Default LS1 Head Gasket question

I would like your thoughts around head gasket.

I have a 2002 camaro ss ls1 engine that is currently on a pallet 40k miles.

i am wondering if i should replace the head gaskets while it is out of the vehicle.
i have no reason to believe it needs new gaskets other than age 17 years old.

Just curious if that has anything to do with the gaskets or if it isn't broke don't fix it?

Thanks

I wouldn't unless you have other reasons to tear it apart, There are still engines on the road today running the same gaskets they came with from the 1970's lol

Exactly: If it ain't broke then don't fix it. My 03 Silverdao has over 323,000 miles and still going. It's going to be my next engine build and I don't want to run it until catastrophic failure either but it just keeps going and going.
