Default Question on T-Tops..

I was wondering if GM sold a "shade" for the T-Tops. I bought my car used and it didnt come with any "Shade" for the T-Top. however there's velcro that seems to be used to put up a "shade" to block the sun through the T-Tops.

(when i say shade i mean something to velcro up inside of the t-tops to block the sun)

also im not a sun person so i kind of get irritated of the sun..

Thanks

Yes the car came with a piece of molded plastic that could be velcroed to the bottom of the t-top. I would check on ebay or at your dealer, they can't be that expensive.

Hmmm... interesting; I got my T-roof car second hand, and the sunlight coming in the glass roof panels has never bothered me so I've never missed this mysterious plastic shade you speak of. Guess the original owner pitched or lost the shades. My roof panels have enough tint that even on bright summer days it's never an issue; aren't they all tinted the same way??

My 94 didn't, it had this really dark shade stuff painted on the glass. It made the glass much darker than the tint that is on my 98. I did by my car used, but the lady I bought it from even gave me the bra (that I did not use), so I would think she would have given me the shades too?

Yes these cars came with t-top shades. When I went to buy my used beater T/A they didn't have them and I demanded them. So after a few minutes of bitching they caughed them up, plus the t-top holder and floor mats. I hate dealing with car lots!

Just keep an eye out for them, and there are different colored ones so try and match your interior.

Peace,
Craig.

Do yourself a favor and limo tint your t-tops. The combination of the factory tint and 5% limo tint lets just the right amount of light in IMO. Even on the sunniest day you can look directly at the sun through the tops.

The shades are a real pain in the *** to take in/out. I put a nasty scratch/ding in my qtr. panel with the edge of one of the shades - I vowed never again to let those damn things near my car.

I bought my 02 from a used car lot and it didn't have them in it. the original owner probably kept them. so I kept mine out of my old ws6 before we got rid of it so I would have some to use.

I just got done decoding my RPO codes from my '99 Hawk and found "DE4 - Sunshade, Removable hatch roof" so I guess it was an option code...

Back when I bought mine, new, there wasn't any factory t-top shades.

However, there was a third party vendor who made them (at least back then). They were padded (upholstered?) and covered in fabric which exactly matched the factory headliner. They didn't use Velcro. They had a flap which tucked into the outside edge trim of the glass panel, and used a friction fit on the other three sides.

I used them mostly in the summer, when parked with the t-top on. They blocked 100% of the sun, and the padding help insulate a bit too.
