Default Buying a '93 Camaro help!

Is there anything I need to watch out for in that year?

It is a 3.4L V-6 Manual 5-speed transmission with 97,000 miles looks to be in excellent condition for $3900

We are going to check it out much better on Friday. what should I look for?

wouldnt buy a 3.4L camaro. i think in 1996 they started to put in the 3.8L. anyways $3900 is way to much for an 11 year old car with 97k miles.

Nope, they did have 3.4L in 93, I know because i just checked the kelley blue book value of it and its worth 2,560 if its in good condition. IMO, i wouldn't touch a V6 camaro regardless of who is going to drive it, especially for 3,900. You could get yourself a Z28 same year for that price.

Yup, stay away from the 3.4L motor. It is extremely expensive to fix ANYTHING on that motor. I had one, and it cost $600 to replace the alternator, and $900 for the intake manifold gasket. More than double what it would be for either repair on a 3.8.

I've also got a 94 3.4, if I would have know then what I know now, I would have went w/ the Z28. Don't get a 6 banger, look for an 8. Should be about the same price. My $.02

wasnt saying they didnt have a 3.4L in 93, i was trying to get the point across that they started putting a better v6 engine in 1996.
either way, find a 93z28 for $4k.

Ok well since you asked...here goes...the engine was idling erratically when cold. Once it warmed up it was perfectly fine. So after three trips to the dealer, someone finally figured out it was an intake problem. They initially told me it was a warped intake manifold...and it would cost $1200 to fix. I took it to another mechanic, who is a friend of my father's, and he said "how do they know the intake manifold is warped if they never looked at it" (they did not remove the intake to inspect the manifold itself). He then told me "i'm 99% positive it's just the gasket, so tell them that" he also told me it should be $800-$1000 to replace the gasket, and that he had NO interest in doing any work on "that POS motor". So I took it back to the dealer and told them that I knew the manifold was fine and that I would pay no more than $900 to get it fixed, take it or leave it. Well they accepted the deal, it ended up being a bit under $900 actually. The gasket itself I think was $34, the rest was labor and diagnostic costs.

Why would he want a LT1 car when he has the SS? I'm assuming he'd just getting the 93 for a daily driver. I think that price is way too much for that car. I would agree with the majority here and try and find a 3800 car. (96-02)

Ok, now explain why in the hell you would pay $600 to replace an alternator??

When I replaced mine, it cost me ~ $70..

Get it for that price..

I had a 94 3.4L Firebird.. Not one problem with it.

I bought it with 45K miles in 2001. I traded it in on my Z28 in Dec. 2003 w/ 107K miles and it was still running strong.

The 3.4L is pretty stout little motor. You're not gonna beat much out on the street, but if you're looking for a daily driver. Then this is the car for you. I got great gas mileage also.. average 30 mpg the entire time I had it.

I say go for it.. I loved that car.

Thats because it was a PONTIAC ...camaro is another story I just messing with ya
I know the dealers advertise that the 98-02 3800's get 2 extra miles to the gallon over LS1's ...not exactly too good of a deal. But I don't know about the prior LT1 style body V6's. I know that LT1's are very very fun daily drivers due to their low end torque
