Have you thought about a Monte Carlo SS??? I have a '01 Monte SS as my daily driver and love it!!! She's good in the snow with the traction control and is just a really fun car to drive. Just a thought. Good luck!!!

If you have to ask then you dont deserve the camaro. Yes both cars can be made fast, but if your looking for pure speed I wouldnt ever trust a FWD car, or a I4 for that matter...

From a roll.....kicked his ***.
No contest at all. I WAS surprised at how quick the thing was....but it just wasn't quick enough .

Dodge neon pos vs Chevy muscle.....tough choice...I think you know where I’m going with this. The biggest problem I have with the neon is FWD and a big turbo.....they usually don’t mix well without major internal upgrades to the trans. Also you will be very temped to up the boost and again this is usually a problem without major upgrades.
When I see a SRT4 with 100K miles on it....maybe I would think differently about the durability of a dodge product, I have replaced too many neon head gaskets and other parts to think that they can withstand all the boost people are throwing at them.
Anyways....I would buy the camaro any day...the neon I would have to be talked into it...and probably drunk.
Good luck.

Doubt the Skittle will ever see low 11's though.

I agree with Ron78Z&01SS I raced that car at that track when I had my Trans Am new with out any mods and I wooped it . Sure it kept up but once I hit high gears it was long gone and in the end it was just another car getting tought a lesson in challenging and LS1 and funny my only loss that night was to another more heavily moded Camaro Z28 but other then that id say it was a 5-1 good night for me

I dont know if this is still the case, but the older Neons are ****. I repaced an engine in a '95 and couldn't get it to start. The engine harness gets oil on it(from engine leaks) and melts together. I was told buy a guy at the local dealership that is a common problem. IMO they are a throw away car and I would never own one.

I will give the Mopar boys their props for designing a great engine. And they have the guts to offer factory peformence parts that are relatively hassle free(no ECM reprogramming )
As for the car they put this wonderful motor in, it has to be one of the worst **** boxes ever produced. And its driving the wrong set of wheels The only redeeming trait of the Neon is the light weight. The Neon has always stood for being a cheap, POS, throw away car. Not to mention how lame it looks. I wouldn't be suprised to see these SRT-4's flying apart(throwing rods, bad turbos, etc.) with under 130K miles on them. As a rule, turbocharged cars aren't as reliable as an N/A car due to the added complexity and extreme conditions(boost!) that these motors must survive. I doubt the SRT-4 will escape the rule, especially with people modding them and beating on them all the time.

SRT4 vs. LS1, I'd pick the LS1. This is an unbiased opinion.
Reason being an LS1 Z28 or formula can be had for less money than an SRT-4. Also I've dealt with dodge/chrysler's service department in my town, they are ********.
If I was in the market for a sport compact, I would go with the MINI Cooper S.

I'd say it depends how confident of a driver or experienced and what you are looking for
I have driven regular neons, not hte srt-4 .... but just its positioning would make it easier to drive imho. And if you want something like that ... go for it.
The thing for me is .... the srt-4 tries to be reasonable and fast ... but it fails both ways. Its not reasonable enough and its not fast enough.
If you want reasonable go buy yourself an accord v6. its "peppy", reliable, easy.
If you want fast get an LS1.
If you buy the srt-4 ... you will be happy most days but then you will pull up to one of us and be sad again

I would say Fbody just because its such a fun car...i mean can u do donuts in a srt-4? can u do a wheelie in a srt-4? nope u cannot.
Although i love my Fbody's these SRT-4's are damn quick. Up here in Albuquerque there is a little red one with 470hp that ran a best of 11.85 at a 5400ft Altitude thats a 10 at sea level, also there are a few in the low 13s about to be in the 12's here soon.
here is that 11 for u non believers hehe
