Default Question on model year

I just bought a 2001 SS, I think. It has the VIN/title that verify it is a 2001, but the sticker on the door says it was built in Sept 2000. Is it really 2001 or a 2000? I'm guessing they started building 2001s for Jan. 2000. Right? I need to know if I have that LS6 intake and Z06 clutch.

Thanks for any info you have.

Most cars that are built at the end of a year are considered the next year model. So, if your car was built in sept 2000, it is a 2001 car. Notice the 2005 corvette came out in 2004. And.. the 2006 z06.. will be out this year. Just depends on how long production takes.

Also, if you have a LS6 intake, you will not see an EGR pipe (or a black kevlar kinda covered pipe) going into the intake. If you don't see that pipe, make sure there isn't a block off peice in there. Right before the throttle body, on the intake.

My 2000 was built in Aug 1999 and my 2001 was built Oct 2000..........I was driving the 2001 when it was only about 17 days old after I ordered it........drove the 2000 piece of **** for 10 months then GM was ordered to buy it back.

You have a newer model then what's on the door sticker it's definately a 2001

easiest way to find out what the model year of the car is, open the hood and look at the emissions sticker, it say "this model applys to the XXXX model year" something like that, or you could check the 10th VIN number but then you have to decode it, i think 2000 is 0 and 01 is 1 and so on, before then its letters and i forget what is what

Build date doesn't mean ****. Just go off the VIN.

My 2000 was assembled in July of 1999. It was #1,171 for the 2000 model year.

someone told me a while ago that even tho the new model year comes out early, like Oct. ive seen some as early as Aug., you can still order the previous year till Dec

so your 2000 could have been ordered brand new in like Nov, and got it in Dec. and it still be a 2000

someone told me this a long time ago, i dont know if its true or not
