Dilemma
Well im in a bit of dilemma here. Right now i drive a 98 camaro v6. I have been in the market for a LT1 or LS1 after just owning my car for about a year and now i have a dilemma. As of now i am looking at 2 cars 1 is a 97 trans am A4 just turned 90k(Metallic Green) and the other 99 Z28 M6(Silver) 83k Both cars are great. The Trans am is fully loaded t-tops, leather etc..., and also has the following sound system, new rebuilt tranny w/ a stall (what the owner said), the top end of the motor is rebuilt w/ new rockers, etc..., new started, flowmaster exhaust, K&N CAI. The Camaro is not as loaded as the T/A but does have t-tops which is what really matters and also a 6spd. The camaro is basically stock except for a MTI clear lid w/ K&N and exhaust. So fellas please help me out i really dont know what to choose.
Other info
Camaro asking price is $9995 (dealer)
T/A asking price is $8800 (private seller that has to sell)

It is your choice so don't let "us" talk you out of what you want...
The one with no mods and the LS1 is the one I would choose...
Nothing wrong with the LT1, but I would go with the LS1.... Looks like the Camaro

the majority of people are going to be biased. LS1 owners will tell you to get the LS1, LT1 owners will tell you the LT1 is just as fast. etc etc.
choose whichever one fits you best, and whichever one seems the most solid.
personally, i'd go with the Camaro. you'd be starting from a clean slate and it's fun to mod your own car yourself.
note that i too am biased, as i just bought a 2000 SS.
ps. i'd run a carfax on both of them before you decide.

I'd have a hard time buying a car that the owner had abused so badly that many things needed rebuilt. You can probably talk the dealer down to $9000 if you're good at that and you'll get a better interest rate in some cases by going through a dealer. Capital One gave me 1.3% lower rate for buying at a dealer over an individual.

I own both an LS1 (2001 Z28) and an LT1 (1994 Z28). I've owned the LT1 since new and my son drives it now. I bought the 01 used about 9 months ago. Sorry, the LT1 is very nice, but does not even hold a candle to the LS1. That LS1 is just awesome!!!! I've done headers, cam, and a cutout to the 01 and it's incredible. Plus, the LS1 does NOT have the Optispark. I've put 3 on my 94 in 10 years and it's getting old at $300 per pop.
