How many miles are 'too many'?
Hi all, sorry if this is posted in the wrong section. I wasn't sure where to post it and figured this would be the best place. But anyways, I'm still slightly considering selling my Challenger and getting an LS1 F-body. Now if money was no object I'd want one with under 25k miles, but since they generally seem to be out of my price range than I would have to go for a cheaper, higher mileage car. So the question is, how many miles are "too many" for the LS1 F-bodies? You know, when the engine starts burning a bit of oil, things start to get a bit unreliable, etc. Most concern is with the engine, but I'm also curious as to when other things start needing work, i.e. trans, suspension bushings etc., paint/body, interior. Thanks guys.

As long as you get one without any preexisting problems, and maintain it properly, I dont see any reason for these engines to not go 200k+ with minimal repairs.
100k is still a young engine. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I purchased my 2000 z28 in Nov of 99 (New) this is my daily driver & it currently has 91K on it. does not burn any oil, no major problems with the car, typical brakes, rotors,wp,alt, fuel pump.
Other than that Very reliable car!
Can't go wrong with the LS1 IMO!

I just bought mine a few months ago with 39,000 on it and have not have had any problems in 6,000 miles. But my friend has a 98 TA with 95,000 on it and he has never had anything problems. And he realy beats on it.

Re: How many miles are 'too many'?
97,000 hard miles
3 blown up rearends (drag radial launches with aM6. saving for a 12 bolt this time)
2 clutches (stock one didn't like nitrous AT ALL)
1 tranny (i think it had mostly to do with the clutch)
nothing has really "worn out" just alot of hard driving.

Re: How many miles are 'too many'?
bought mine in august of 2001 with 10,200 on the clock. Now has 51,000 on it, gets driven 400-450 miles a week, and the only victim is $@#!>? acid battery that ate the cable ends! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> Never had a problem with charging or starting, but I've replaced it with a gel battery, and since then <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
