Default Formula VS Trans Am ?

I know mechanically the Firebird Formula and the Trans Am are almost the exact same car. But what differences are there actually between a Firebird Formula and a Trans Am?

This may not be accurate but I've heard that the Formulas can be optioned to weigh less than the T/As. IOW, you can get them with manual windows and locks, hard top, no leather, etc. and the T/As come standard with power windows, locks, t-tops, leather, etc.

Not sure what else though other than the low level spoiler on the Formula compared to the raised spoiler on the T/As and the slightly different front bumper configurations.

The trans am has a different body kit and more options. T-tops, power seats/windows, leather, monsoon stereo, etc.

to sum up. T/A looks fast, *** kicking appearance...bells and whistles....Formula. SLEEPER and can be had with base package (no power and cloth).

Not almost. They are the exact same car mechanically. Both have the LS1 with identical engine specs. Both have the same 4L60E or T56 transmission. Both came with 2.73, 3.23 or 3.42 gears. Heck in the earlier years they both even had the same WS6 upgrade option available. Now that's a car you don't see very often, a factory created Formula WS6.

But like others have said the Trans Am did differ from the Formula with appearance and what options came standard standard. Basically the Formula was the Firebird body with the Trans Ams engine under the hood
