idle is set at 1000.. how to lower it..

Default idle is set at 1000.. how to lower it..

I got a 98 t/a M6 and the idle is set at 1000...


is there anyway to lower this.. I know its not really a big deal but its buggin the funk outta me.

Are you sure that the factory throttle body hasn't been tampered with? If that hole in the throttle plate is bigger then stock it will make it idle higher. You can also try adjusting the idle with the idle screw on the left side of the throttle body looking at the motor. The screw goes from the bottom up and you should see minimal threads going through all the way. If I had a detailed picture I would send it to you. Good Luck.

I thought my idle was high too. Then I hooked up a scanner and discovered my idle was fine... The factory gauge was just off.

Exactly. Don't trust the factor tach to be very accurate. Some are, some aren't. Read it with something like autotap to see what it really is.

Every 98 six speed that I have ever seen/heard of idles from the factory at 1050. 99's and up with the new computer idle lower.

I think there is a screw on the tb right by the throttle leaver or something....
