Spend my money!
I have a 01 SS Convertible, completely stock with Loudmouth ex. and some suspension mods.
I do not want to spend lots of money on it because of the miles that I drive. I will probalby end up selling it in a year or two.
If you had $1,000 to spend on performance parts, what would you do to maximize HP/TRQ? Would you just stick a nitrous on it, or go with the basics (list parts)?

Ok, I have KBDD's. Adding Koni's and STB.
Soon to add new wheels and tires. Currently the optional BFGoodwrich's.
btw, it is a M6 with short stick.
My goals, unusal I am sure, most power for the $. I would love to see 400hp. Is that possible with $1000 w/o n2o?

Why are you modding a car that you plan to sell in a year or two? Why do you plan to sell it in a year or two?
Pacesetter coated longtubes with catted Y-pipe, and some subframe connectors if you don't already have them.. (tsp perhaps)
If it's an auto get a torque converter!

400 hp at the wheels or flywheel? if its at the wheels...no....flywheel...yes. if you only have 1k, get subframe connectors and some n2o..a nice 125 will get you over 400whp...but the question is..do you have money for broken parts? i.e. rear end, clutch...bald ties...ect. ?

As I said, I already have SFC (KBDDs), Koni's and STB on the way, and it is a M6 not auto. And yes, I have $ if something breaks. However, I do not plan on abusing it and I have read that the stock rear can handle 400 pretty easy.
Let me ask another way... What would the gain be for the std mods (intake, tuning, headers, better exhaust, pulley, ?, ?)

The stock rear can only handle the power if you don't put any kind of a sticky tire on it and/or launch it aggressively. If you try to drag race the stock rear with an M6 it will likely go
You already have an LS6 intake (being an 01) which is good enough. With longtubes and catted Y-pipe or duals, underdrive pulley, ported throttle body, CAI and tuning you can probably make between 340-360 rwhp.

It shouldn't run too much more than that, especially if you shop wisely and turn some wrenches yourself.
