i hate heat, and the car hates AC :(
sooo...i finally got around to recharging the AC a few weeks ago after doing the cam back in Oct/Nov...then i left for a few weeks. today is the first day of driving the beast more than a few blocks, and of course i get stuck in traffic on the highway. so i turn on the AC, and bam. she dies. i know the idle will drop a little when you turn on the AC, but this straight dropped to zero. i was testing it out, and it will do it everytime. i did find that if i manually rev it a lil to keep it from dropping to zero initially it will stay running...but i shouldnt have to do that. also, whats the likeliness of the pcm 'losing' a tune? it doesnt feel as strong as it used to and is running quite rich as well.

but mine wont learn unless i help it for a second. right when i turn on the AC, and it starts to blow, the rpms drop from 800 or so (idle) to about 500, then to about 300, then it dies. happens within a few seconds id say. so, when i turn on the AC, i have to give it a lil gas, to stop the initial drop, then when the AC is fully on and blowing, ill let of the gas, and then it will hunt for a second.
on another note, i should be coming down to Tampa from the 8th of july to the 18th...and i might try and stop by sometime.

Your tune must be slightly lacking. I can switch my A/C on anytime I want, start the car hot or cold with the A/C already on max, etc and it will stuble a little bit as the worse possible outcome. It doens't even think about dying. This is with the MS3 (237/242) in an auto.
I suppose it might have been this way all along had you tried the A/C previously.

With the cam you might be running out of air that the iac will allow in. You need the log the iac counts. if its maxing out around 120 when you first turn the a/c on, its doing all it can to keep the motor running, you might need to adjust the TB set screw to allow more air in at idle or drill the hole out a bit.

xfiveliter - my idle isnt at 500, its 800. when i turn on the ac, the idle drops to 500 for a sec, then to 300, then will die. i just didnt want you thinking it just died immediately when i turned it on, it doesnt. you can see the idle dropping down.
blkZ28spt - i know its something with the tune. but can the car, 'lose' a previously good tune? the car ran awesome for a long time...now its not as strong as it used to be, and the whole AC thing. ive never worried about the AC, since it was winter time, so i dont know how long its been like this.
i have access to efilive, so ill see if i can get some logging done soon.

Is this the hottest weather you've had since then? You might just be noticing first had exactly how much of an effect air quality (DA) has on power. Hot summer air can really slow cars down, to the tune of several tenths.

Did you try running the A/C then? You think it ran better then than it does now? A lot of things could be different now and cause this, but I don't think you can "lose" the tune.

yea, it def ran better before. right now, the idle will surge sometimes, and hunt at lights (with AC off), and then when i turn the AC on it dies.
and no, i didnt run the AC when i was in FL. i just turned it on the vent setting, not the AC setting
