Question Help With Modifications!!!

Sup everybody...FINALLY! I GOT MY TRANS AM!! Well, technically, its a sunset orange firehawk m6 but its still in the same family! xD

When I had purchased the vehicle, it already had flowmaster exhaust, hooker heads, and k&n intake.
I was trying to supercharge this sucker and wanted to know what are the mods i need to do before I drop a sc in it?

Thanks for all the help!

have a look around the Forced Induction forum. Lots of good info there.

There are lots of choices, but I guess the main two are the STS rear mount turbo or the ATI procharger supercharger.

All you should need is the complete kit and a tune afterwards and 6-8psi of boost should be fine and good for ~440rwhp.

However in all reality, the Flowmaster is not the best exhaust, as it is restrictive compared to others. With FI it would be well worth swapping it. Also your K&N will go by the way side with FI.

What year car is it? If it's pre 01 then you'll want to get the LS6 intake manifold for it. The 01/2 cars already have it stock. If you're prepared to spend the money on a blower I'd also get your TB ported as well.

Personally I'm not to keen on the STS turbo setup, sure it makes the power and drag strip use will be fine. But I hear too much about LAG and drivebility that personally would not suit me.

I'd go Procharger D1 setup @ 8psi (check the sponsors for prices --->)

With all this power it's also pretty sensible to assume you'll break your 10 bolt rear, so plan on getting a 12 bolt (or equiverlent) in the budget. Even if you don't actually purchase until you 10 bolt gives up.

Technically, you don't need to do anything if you buy the kit with the fuel injectors and a tune. However, what I would do is get the d-1sc tuner kit and buy the fuel parts seperatly. You will need a new higher flow fuel pump, and some 42# injectors (to be on the safe side). Before you run it, you better have a tune in it though, otherwise you are going to be having problems. To be safe you are going to *want* so much stuff. You will *want/need sooner or later* a new rear-end($2000), a forged shortblock($3000), good suspension parts (optional, but needed for fast et's at track)($500-1500), an upgraded tranny($1500), a new clutch(750-1500), and all of this comes without labor, so I hope you realize all of this stuff you will need or want to have) I'm sure there are a ton of things I'm leaving out, but those are the major things.

Looks to me like you need to do a lot of research before you do anything.
your car probably came with hooker head-ers...And k&n air filter.
you'll learn a lot searching this website.

you may be better off going with a heads / cam package, it will probably be cheaper or about the same and you can brag that you are all motor, but like monicaz said you have ALOT of research to do either way
