I would assume the top speed with governor is about 120, that's what my Z was. How fast will it go w/o? I've run the speedometer to about 155. Depends on gearing, mods, etc.

Trap speed is the speed at the end of a run down the drag strip.

If you mean top speed, it depends on the tires that came with the car. If it came with Z rated tires I think there is a stock governor set at like 162. Or somewhere around there.

These cars are probably capable of near 170 mph stock.

If it came with 16" rims it's 116 or so. With good
factory rubber there is a 160MPH PCM limit. Either
way you can get it programmed out.

Mine came with Z-rated 16" wheels/tires and I took it up to 135 mph the first day.

I am not the original owner but the thing was 100.00% stock and always was.

Edit: Well, I'm 99.99% sure it was always stock. I've owned it for four years and done all kinds of work to it and everything I see makes me believe it came that way from the factory. I also have the window sticker and know the 16" wheels were factory equipent.

stock limiter is set to 160mph
all v8 fbodys regardless of tires
I blazed past one of those your speed is radar thingys at 167mph with my old camaro...all bolt ons, and an x1 cam and it was still pulling hard...
Motor trend said they got a completely stock one with the limiter removed only...up to 174 before it started getting very unstable..and they hit a speed of 178 and decided that was the "air restriction" limit.....they also said with a few suspension mods and a litte motor mods that it could have gone faster...

good as I can answer for ya

Actually, the speed limiter is 116 mph if your car did NOT come with Z rated tires regardless of the tire size. Some 16" wheels came with Z rated rubber from the factory and they have the 160 limit. Mine had the 116 and I hit it the second day I owned the car. Got it programmed out the following day and set it to 160.

if it didnt come with Z rated tires, see inside of drivers door, its limited to 120 electonicly

if it had Z rated tires and is an A4 with 3.23s 159 is the top speed, car hits rev limiter and cuts fuel so it is not really speed limited but rpm limited

6 speed cars 163 pegged in 5th gear

A4 2.73 cars... i dont know

****only cars with electonic govners are the no z rated tire cars, all otheres have NO speed limiting devices on them. speed is ONLY limited by the RPMs and rev limiter on the motor and it does NOT go by speed****

Any tuner can. Use Hptuners, LS1 edit, or even if you had a crappy HPPIII you could do away with it. But I advise you NOT to do this unless you have upgraded your tires to Z rated ones.

I've gone 152 and still had alot left but was coming up on cars in front of me while on the freeway so I shut her down.

I had to see what my car can do because at the time a Firestone employee said, no way does my z28 go past 130 and I proved him wrong.

I too, have heard they top out at 160, but I have never toped out my car. But like I said, i know for sure they go more then 152. Yes, yes.

Mine pegged the speedo at the 160 mark before hitting the limiter, pulling hard all the way to it. My car is mostly stock w/ the cheapies and freebie mods.

I had my '01 WS6 up to redline in 5th several times... The needle was just over 160... was it 161 or 164... I don't know, hard to tell exactly at those speeds. My car had the stock tune with a few bolt-ons so if there is a "speed limiter" I didn't see it, because my car went all the way to red line in 5th and hit the rev limiter, but thats just a rev limiter, not a speed limiter....
