need a bit of help

ok so i just bought a ram air a few wks ago and its got hpe s cam longtubes ported t.b but stock intake. anyways its a 6spd car and it seems to be getting really bad gas mileage. i dont rage on it really at all and i have stock gears. i prolly dont get less than 200 miles out of a tank? any ideas?

Did you get it dyno tuned??

stevensLS1 03-13-2006 10:28 AM

the owner said it was dyno tuned at hpe. it made 386 (still stock intake) on a mustang dyno.

You might want to pull a few plugs to see if its running rich. Do you notice any black smoke from the tail pipes?

Might want to check the front o2's as well. Bad gas mileage is a sign of them getting ready to die.

thanks guys anyone else know why?

wamp42 03-13-2006 10:48 PM

Hell I only get 200 to a tank stock so is something wrong with my car?

Depends alot on how and where you drive, if you constantly go WOT then you gas mileage will suck, as well as if you mostly drive in the city.
If you drive it like grandma, and/or do mostly highway miles then you'll get better mileage

^^^Exactly!!!! I used to drive around town in 4th doing 40-45 & at best would get around 180mi to a tank.... Started using 5th instead as well as keeping my foot out of it & now average around 220-240 with some highway driving mixed in... the car has lt's & dulas, hotcam, stock 3.42 gears & stock tune.

i usually do drive like a grandma. i use 6th on the freeway and usually 5th round town. im thinking its mainly the tune. but i am also throwing some kinda code with is prolly the 02's so ill look into that more.

Get the code scanned at auto zone, if it's the o2s, that's probably a big part of the problem
