Default old ls1 in my truck?

im getting a new ls1 in my bird becuase my old ls1 with about 70k miles blew some bearings. ive got a 4.3l s10 and i was thinking about just keeping the old ls1 engine and rebuilding it to drop it in the truck. how much of a hassle would this be?, would i need to cut the firewall in the truck? and does anyone know how a 95 s10 is geared?....i posted this in the hybrid section to just to get some more input

the s10 would use the same gears as your T/A I belive, 10 bolts in each.. I raced a kid with a mid 90's s10 with a carbed 355 in it and 410's.. was a decent roll race but I waxed his *** like I waxed his mothers the night before

I'm trying to imagine gears bolted together but somehow I just can't.

You will need special headers to clear the firewall. There is a guy that makes them. They aren't too bad at about $400 bucks for a pair.

check out s10forums.com they have a v8 section just for this.

The LS1 fits very nicely in the s10s, sonoma, s15, blazers, etc. And it looks factory. You will need a corvette or taurus electric fan though. Those flow the most and give you the best clearance.

You will also need a custom radiator although I believe a company is making them. They are pretty pricey.

I had a sonoma. I also had a totalled 01 camaro with perfect drivetrain and engine lined up from the junk yard. They had just got it 3 days before. I was gonna get it all for $5k. It was a freaking steal. The interior was perfect. All it was was alot of frame damage and only 35k on the od. Some ****** offered the guy $6k the day before the bank cleared my loan. grrr.

So then I sold my sonoma and buy my car. lol.

A stock LS1 in an s10/sonoma will scare the pants off a stock lightining.

yea i read that seems like alot of stuff to do....not only do i have to rebuild this motor, but then ive got to yank the 4.3, clear the engine bay totally out, along with all new rear end...the other two options i have is to just ebay the old one, or keep it and stroke it....blow money here blow money there....wow

The 4l60E in the truck is the same one thats in your car. So you are good there. You don't really need a new reared unless you plan on going to the dragstrip much.
