Default How far do you think I can talk this down...?

I found a '99 Formula hardtop for sale around me, and was wondering what you guys would say the value is. The ad is as follows:

"1999 PONTIAC TRANS AM, 6 speed, LS1 Corvette motor, hard top, 58k actual miles, very clean, new tires, blk, very fast, $12,500."

I know that you guys are going to say "KBB.com" but that doesn't seem to really apply to Firebirds around here... they seem to charge what they want. He's a private seller, by the way.

Thanks for your help. I've been looking at Firebirds for a long time, and hopefully this one could be it... haha.

seems like a good price to me, I wouldn't go any lower than $12k if I were selling it.

I like it. Seems like an OK price. I'm probably one of the few here who would rather have a hard top vs T-tops. I think I've taken my tops out once in 3+ years.

He just showed me interior and engine pics. This car looks like it's brand new. I'm definitely going down there to check it out... haha.

id pay maybe 10,000 since miles are pretty low, but useally go from 8-9k here...

just my opinion though... dont want to offend anyone.

That vehicle would command 12,500 easy here. I think its a very good price for it and I would jump on it if you can.

Yeah I'm trying for it. I can't really go see it until next weekend (work and what-not, boss says I can't take time off), so hopefully he decides not to sell it before then.

Well ****. I'm going to have to go there after work on Tuesday. I just talked to the owner, and he's saying that there has been a large response in his car, and he's going to sell it on Tuesday, to whoever buys it. I don't like the idea of driving all the way over there after work and then going back the same day, but it should be worth it...

Well, I figured it out, and I cannot go buy it... I won't be able to get down there in time. Way too many things going on at work for me to dip out early tomorrow. I found a pretty sweet Z28 here, though. I might give it a shot, it's right down the street from my work, so it's not out of the way at all. I'm going to go look at it on my lunch break.

$12,590 for a Z28 with Monsoon, leather, power options, and t-top in pretty good shape with 60,000 miles sound right? I might be able to haggle a little bit, but who knows. It's a 2000 model. I'll let you guys know.

I wouldn't mind having a Z28 compared to a Firebird, I don't think. They both look pretty cool, the Z28 just needs a little more help, lol jk.

For 12 grand? That's about what my budget is. I see mint sub-1000 mile T/As all the time, but they're all in the high-20 thuosand dollar range.

I looked at the Camaro. It's in really good shape, overall. The driver's side seat has a tear in the leather, I can live with that (bargaining chip...), and there are two small dents on the rear passenger side quarter panel. It looks like someone opened their door into it or something, by the way they look (I can live with this too, again it's another bargaining chip). The driver's side mirror has two small chips. Finally, the headlights are faded, which I think is a good bargaining chip, too, because I know how to make them look new again. It has Monsoon, (but cassette player, that's not problem however, my buddy has an old CD Monsoon deck he'll give me for free). It also has the Hurst shifter, which I think is pretty slick.

I didn't have time to test drive it, but that's going to be tomorrow, I think. I'll go there after work since it's just down the street from my work.

Best of all, he said he can go lower. We'll see just how far lower...

Can't get that Firebird. He's definitely selling it tomorrow (he's basically on a first-come, first-serve basis...), and I cannot make it.

Yeah sure hes had a huge response that's an old trick, call him on the weekend and see if he's still got it (almost bet he will), if not then the Z is just as good
