Default 01 SS Dyno freak

So the club went out to Doug Rippie Motorsports for a dyno day. So I bring my new 01 SS that I picked up about a week ago. The car is stock beside the CME that it came with and a SLP lid that the owner before me put on it. I pulled 330 HP and 346 TQ but was running WAY to lean at 14 to 1. So with a little tuning by Doug and a couple more pulls we had the A/F perfect and picked up another 8 HP and 9 tq. So at 338 HP and 355 TQ is my car just a freak or is that just where it should be. Thanks -Steve

Congrats man! Mine was given the label of "freak" also

It made 336/350 with a lid and catback and no tuning.

mine must be a freak too then becuase mine made those kind of numbers with SLP lid/LMII and no tune...with my current mods and no spray it make 409/456 on the juice it makes 523/579....have to get some suspension work....the times below are on stock suspension and DR's....it wheels hops way to bad on the slicks so that tells me i need some suspension work and maybe a set of gears before the slicks will come in handy

also take into account that some dynos are stingy and some are generous.

All these "freaks" still run the normal stock LS1 ET's at the track, so I question
the power output. We all know that dynos can lie. If you run a 12.60 @ 111mph, I'll buy it.

What are your current mods? Stroker?

Doodad: No, we are saying a strong 01-02 LS1 makes high 330's hp.

The dyno's def have an effect also..

You sure it doesn't have a Z06 cam? Mine sounds entirely stock. I think it may have mods that you dunno about.

In any event nice ride.

Right...but that's not stock now is it. My lid / catback A4 LS1 went
13.0 @ 111mph, but only 13.67 @ 105mph stock if I recall correctly.

My point is that dyno numbers vary greatly. From what I've seen, and
I've seen a lot, these "dyno freaks" don't run the number at the track
which leads me to believe they really aren't freaks.

they are good dyno conditions

it wasnt so much my figures that i was happy about. it was really my a/f was a perfect straight line. it was lean as hell but perfectly straight none-the-less. honestly i dont know if thats good or not but it made me happy damnit!

My 01 ram air did 333/346 with stock lid and Borla. Nothing but the exhaust on it. guy that dynoed right after me in a 02 did 334/342 with just exhaust and lid. So i think thats about the going rate on stock power. I ran 8.30 with just the exhaust too and 7.89 full bolt ons cept pulley and water pump. with some worn out BFG's.

My lid only 2001 dyno'd 327, ran a best of 13.105 @ 106.77 *(in FL)
It ET'd 12.58 @ 113.50 with headers and gears and ET'd 12.20 @ 115.55 with a small cam and a few times 11.92 @ 117 11.91 @ 116 *fiance driving it into the 11's)

I still don't believe in dyno numbers, as you can see I have no idea what my new motor tosses down plus it's still breaking in..........but track #'s do the real talking
