Default Upgrading from an LT1 Z28..

I love my car, but I hate the fact that its an automatic. I was gonna look for an 6-speed LT1 but I decided that with my job now I could afford a 2000+ WS6 with a M6. How noticable will the power increase be? How different of a beast is the LS1 compared to the LT1s?

Night and day.

It is like comparing a 96 Mustang GT to a 96 Cobra.

Thats not a very intelligent statement.

Ive rode in many cars, but the level of fun depends on more than just speed....correct?
If that were true, there would be some LS1 guys not having fun, because I beat them?

Ive rode in both. The LT1 feels like it has more torque, the LS1 is just a great revving machine.

A4 LT1's with 3.23's are about as fast as A4 LS1 2.73 cars, give or take a few tenths.
Yes alot of LS1's run low 13's easy, but it doesnt take much for an LT1 either, especially a manual. And its not even close to rare.

Both can be modded but I think the real reason you should be switching is for the manuel.
Ive put down a couple LS1's and IMO, the power difference varies depending on mods, the car, and the driver.
M6 LT1's with the proper gears and tires can match stock M6 LS1's pretty easy.

There is alot more to it and the LS1 is a better, more powerful motor. But ive seen to many LT1's smack them down to say they are THAH much better.

I definately want to do full boltons, I hear it's pretty easy to get a WS6 w/ M6 into the 12s with em.

Thats an opinion, but i know for a fact the 93-97 Camaro style is the most desired.

the Opti spark is actually very precise and many LT1's have seen over 150K on the original opti.

Somewhat true.

An LS1 is an LS1 is an LS1. You can get any LS1 with full bolt-ons into the 12's (Z28, SS, Formula, Trans Am, WS6, Firehawk, Corvette, GTO) with either tranny (A4 or M6), not just a WS6.

I ******* love my WS6. While LT1's are no slouch, the killer looks and the six speed manual combined with the extra power make it a car I'll never ever get rid of.

LT1 Camaros and LS1 TA are the good looking ones. There is NOTHING more beautiful than an LS1 WS6, to me. That is a very sharp looking SS though.. props

I think lt1 and ls1 Camaros look equally as good in their own ways. Though I have always been a fan of the 93-97 rear tail lights on Camaros. I would consider putting them on on a ls1 car.

I've own'd both the lt1 isnt that much slower but it is never the less and the ls1's just seem to pull harder and more responsive. Ls1's respond better to mods and thats a fact you cant get the same numbers out of an intake system on a lt1 and an ls1. but you pay more for that almost double.

Your going to notice a LOT of difference. The car is not only a bit more powerfull, but its also a six speed, which make the cars FEEL faster than they actually are... Good choice on upping to a ls1, just make sure its a bird

Burnzilla, Reading your posts **** me off. If I had an LT1 I'd be embarrassed by your posts.

I agree with Camaroz.

Also i have driven both cars and settled on buying a '98 T/A A4 and am very pleased with the performance.
