But who really cares? The quarter mile ET is not the most important number a C5 Corvette produces. The most important number is it can go from fully clothed date to no panties in 1.6 seconds

Just kinda curious as people often seem to confuse HP for looks. Like the new BMW M5 - a very bland car made ugly. But because it has 500bhp people love it and claim it looks great. However if it only had say 270bhp I doubt anyone would claim it looks great.
As for the C6, yeah I have to say I really like it. Wasn't so shore at first, thought it looked a little Japanesey from the front but the looks have really grown on me. Probably one of the only new cars on sale that'd I own.
But IMO a Terminator still looks more bad ***!!! Just like the forthcoming Dodge Challenger, it may not be sleek and it may not be pretty but it ooses muscle car from every angle. And for some that's more important. I personally think the 77/8 Trans Am (alla Bandit) was the same. It certainly isn't pretty but it is one of my all time favourite looking cars along side the 68/9 Dodge Charger R/T.

it's not like they are Lambos or anything. Everyone and their brother
has a 'vette. There is no exclusivity. It's not as bad as Mustangs, but
still.

Well I guess it's either that or a wad of cash and look for the scarlet lit side streets

I guess if you really want exclusivity then something like this would be pretty good:

If everyone and thier brother has a Vette then everyone and thier sister, nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers has a Mustang. There are a lot of people that would say cars are for basic transportation. If you have to have a loud/fast/flashy car then you're probably trying to compensate for other things
I don't believe that of course but I'm sure we have all heard that one before.
Besides, there is a difference between needing a car to get laid and just taking advantages of the perks of owning such a car

I really don't know but maybe unit123 will chime back in and help you out with that one.

Well figuring out the C5 Z06 is easy. It weighs pretty similar to a C6 Z06, has similar gearing and aerodynamics and has the same abilty to deploy the power.
So if you can get the C5 Z06 to produce the same hp/lb ft across the entire rpm range then it should equal it.
Sadly getting a real 500bhp SAE Net out of 5.7 litres and remaining streetable is not that easy. Sure you see claims of 470rwhp from some h/c setups. But in reality these are always Dynojet numbers and usually STD corrected. All up it means they don't compare directly with SAE Net figures. Plus such setups are usually pretty wild and often lack the grunt, espcially in the lower rpms.
But in theory a good h/c bolt on C5 z06 should be able to play ball with a STOCK c6 z06. If you want to beat (easy) or play with modified c6 z06's then nitrous or boost would usually be the answer. Or if you want to stay n/a then a larger displacement engine. As you can see the C5 z06 is very similar to a c6 z06 in terms of getting the performance from it. They are both after all both Corvettes.
The Cobra, well it weighs more and in fairness is less aerodynamic. So it means you will need more power to have equal performance with a c6 z06. How much more is up for debate, but figuring out the power to weight will give an idea.
I guess the easy route would be, twin screw blower and supporting mods. 600+rwhp should be more than enough to take care of a STOCK c6 z06. A fully sorted Eaton with nitrous may be an alternative. Weight reduction may be a solution also.
Remember not all c6 z06's trap 127mph though, a great deal is down to driver and conditions. This means a well driven stock Viper is fast enough to play ball with an averagely driven c6 z06.

a catback, nittos and a tune. I was only in the low 120's though. Most people
will never get over 123mph with a ported blower. It'll take a twin screw
or nitrous to get to 127mph. Along with a twin screw comes a lot of
supporting mods...and a lot of $$$!

I've owned both, an 03 Cobra with a Ported Eaton, Lower/Upper Pulley's, and 100 shot. Car made 561/600whp on a Mustang Dyno.
I sold it to buy my 01 Z06, and I've never looked back.
My current H/C Z06 makes 509/519 on the 100 shot, and would make for a great race for my old Cobra on the street.
They are both great cars, but I couldn't get past the tank like feeling of driving around that Heavy Cobra.
The Z06 feels nimble, and confident when prowling the streets, and I just didn't get that from the Cobra.
If you go to the Z06Vette.com forums, you should see how many previous Cobra owners there are. Lots. Then go the Cobra forums, and try to find any Z06 owners...You'll be looking at only a handful, if that.
Either car is a great choice, but as for me the Z06 is the better all-around car.
Oh, and yes...it definitely has the panty dropper factor.
