Question sup yalls im new

hey everybody whats goin on. my name is scott im from topeka kansas. insert toto joke here. ok so im purchasing a 1998 trans am what uh went boom. its my old legal gaurdians car. from what i was told he reprogrammed the computer. got rid of the rev limiter and was spraying a 250 shot. so the front 2 cylinders ( # 1 & 2 ) on a sbc cuz i dont know the ls1 firing order yet. went out of the block. props to the oil pan for not breaking but you can stick your arm in one side and out the other. im getting the car for about 2500 has a great body new tranny and 4:10 eaton posi. im buyin a stock LS1 to put in it for now. but im lookin to find otu what all i can interchange. i was told that since it's a 1998 i can only use a 1998 LS1. is this true? what changes were made in 99 aside from the heads? as far as the 5.3 and the 6.0 can i use them? what all can interchange. this is my 3rd car im building. i have a 87 SS el camino that was a 13's car, and i have a 1980 malibu 358c.i. 11.4:1 aluminum pro topline heads, airgap intake, 780 cfm demon double pumper, .525/.559 lift cam .242/.244 duration @50 3400 stall eagle rotating assembly, tranny brake, and a 4:10 12 bolt with a eaton posi, lakewood lower lift bars adjustable upper control arms, 50/50 lakewood shocks rear 90/10 fronts. so i do know a few things but this is my first time going into fuel injection. any advice anybody can give me would be most appreciated. is there any parts interchange manuals for LS1's? and what is the firing order?

Im pretty sure that is not true I think you could use an LS1 from any year you just might have to switch the ECU, also the firing order for the LS1 is 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3 and here are the changes for the LS1 through the years not many major ones https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....80&postcount=2
and here are changes specific to 01-02,

The firing order is the same for all Gen III engines, as for the parts breakdown sheet that would be something you could find in a shop manual. Read the stickies on the forum they are really helpful here is a link to one of them lots of info in this one https://ls1tech.com/forums/new-ls1-owners-newbie-tech/213148-jrp-s-faq-commonly-asked-questions.html
