1998 T/a
Hey guys, I was directed your way by a member of transamcountry.com. Currently I'm looking into buying a '98 TA; the car is immaculate, has been well maintained and adult-owned its entire life, but it has some serious highway mileage on it. Serious being to the tune of 140K. I was wondering, what kind of problems am I looking at with a car with that kind of wear and tear? What are the most common issue with these types of cars?
any advice is much appreciated. thanks guys

I have a 1998 Formula that is about 500 miles away from 140k. I bought it with 128k on it. Mine wasn't adult owned it's whole life, the previous owner was some punk kid who didn't take that good of care of it. That being said, I haven't had a SINGLE mechanical problem with the car, other than my rear end going out from hard launches. I beat on my car every time I drive it. It hits the redline more than a few times every time I take it out. I've dropped it from a 13.74 stock to a 13.00 with a few minor bolt ons and it's getting a cam, long tubes, and an LS6 intake this winter. Then it's off to get an S60 so I can stop breaking rearends. I honestly am amazed with the car. I drive it hard and it's reliable as can be. 12k of constant hard driving in an 8 month timespan without a single failure is pretty impressive to me. Hope this helps. I'd buy that car in a heartbeat. Just make sure you're not paying over 6K or 7K for it, as they aren't worth much more with that many miles on them.
