Arrow Just how bad are ls1s in the snow?

Ive been wondering this for some time...are they absoutley horrible with blizzak tires all around? or are they manageable? Anyone have a ls1 beater they've taken through the snow before?

Let me know your stories

hahhaha I agree with everyone, and my 93 lt1 doesn't even have traction control. But it is still my DD in colorado. Luckily for me we get maybe 2 good snowfalls a year where I am. So that is only about ~5 days I have to worry about snow haha. It can be done, but it isn't worth the hassle and danger IMHO.

As long as you don't drive like a jackass, they are not that bad. I have Traction Control, and the one year I had to drive in the snow wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I had a worse time in my 94 V6 Camaro with the One Tire Fryer out back. The big thing is to have all season tires with plenty of tread left. If you are at 50% or less thread, walk to where you need to go.

The 1993 Saturn with 230,000 miles is the only way to roll in the winter

Driving an LS1 in the snow is like yelling "Wall Mart sucks" in a trailer park. Both are bad ideas that can get you seriously hurt.

With a set of Blizzack WS50s my car was awesome in the snow. I never had any issues at all, car handled extremly well and I don't have TCS. I'd take a RWD V8 over a FWD car in the snow anyday of the week.

I drove around on balding high performance summer tires last winter... Yes... I was VERY VERY careful around anything that even resembled snow.

if the road is covered with 1/2 an inch of snow, go for it, not that big of a deal, BUT....... anything more and you should stay home dude, there's only so much a tire can do.

the real problem is getting stuck on a snow pile, it was real dangerous but i've done it a few times.

BRo any f body is not rain or snow friendly and this is coming from someone that lives in FLorida so i highly recomend not driving your car in snow. Is you investment worth that risk?

This gets asked every year. A f-body is fine in snow. In the winter I use blizzak WS-50 tires on cheap steel wheels and I have no problem navigating New England winters. Tires make all the difference. People who say that a RWD V8 car is bad in the snow either can't drive in the snow or are using the wrong tires.
