Default LID ET Gains?

Just curious, anyone that had a stock TA that put on a lid on their car, did you drop anything in your 1/4? Dyno gain from just a lid?

I have full exhaust back with longtubes... just wondering if the lid would do that much for my car or just a waste of money?

Lol, you have well over $1000 invested in exhaust, and you're tripping on whether the $100 lid will be worthwhile?

I dynoed 316 at the wheels with just the lid. Figure they dyno stock somewhere between 300-310 on average. Definently a good gain and you can feel it up top.

There are tons of articles floating around that show it's typically good for up to 10 hp at the wheels.

I dont know what the E.T. gains are but i know you pick up some Hp. You need the lid to to help the car breathe.

true.... didnt know if it was mainly for looks or performance... i am sure with the full exhaust back with longtubes it should let it breathe more, I just ordered cams/heads/ and the ls6 intake, should make it breathe a lot better I would imagine.

the lid was the first thing on my mod list because it's not expensive or a hard thing to put on the car

There was an article a couple months back in GMHTP doing a shootout with lids. They all give roughly the same power. Fit and finish was more where the difference was. If I remember right SLP and Texas Speed were a couple highly rated ones. Most will tell you a lid is a lid. Might as well have something on the intake side, with all that exhaust...

Car breathing easier=better gas mileage
Car breathing easier=more power

Between the joy you get from your car and the $$ you'll save from gas...the lid should pay itself off fairly quickly

Just make sure if you get a lid, you get the K&N to go with it. Kinda supid to have a lid with the stock restrictive air filter.
