Default Is this 2002 ws6 worth it?

So i found this 2002 ws6 with only 32,000 miles, owner is selling it through a dealer so he wont have to deal with people........carfax showed no problems, clean title. But when I inspected the car it has over spray, orange peel and various signs that it has been hit in the front, its missing some screws on a few panels and has bondo thats been sparyed on the bottom of the hood.

The car drives fine and the guy is asking $17,900 for it.....i want to lower it to 16,000, does this sound like a good deal?

don't depend on carfax... lots of states don't report to them at all.

a 32k mile 02 ws6 is probably worth $16k, but be very careful if you think it's been wrecked. take it for a drive and see how it feels, and study the hell out of it if you're seriously thinking about buying it.

also, ask the seller outright. if he says it hasn't been wrecked and you clearly think it has... pass it up. who knows what else he could be lying about.

Call him out. Or the dealer...or whoever is selling it. Offer your price, if they don't like it. "Thanks anyway, I will look somewhere else." That is usually a pretty good negotiating sentence. Plus if you see signs that it may have been involved with a collision of some sort....walk.

+1 on the carfax thing. A clean carfax doesn't equal an unabused or unwrecked car. overspray is usually a good sign that it's been in an accident along with creases not completely lining up. If they come around to what you want to pay then have a mechanic or someone reliable check it out for you.

17K is TOP dollar for that car.

Its nothing special, has 30K miles and is now 5 years old.
Sounds like a nice LS1, but bargain it down more than that.

My advise would be if you really like that car you had better take it to a trust worthy mechanic and have them take a good look at it before you even think about buying.

If the wreck is just cosmetic then I would say that 16-17k should be a decent price at least here in the Indianapolis area.

By the way if it seems too suspicious I would wait for another to come around. On two Pontiac dealers I have seen 5 WS6's come through in the last 6 months all of them less than 32,000 miles.

peace

$16k is still way to much for a car that was "fixed" poorly. Offer a lot less, around $12k or walk away.

Hmm....still sounds high.
Maybe just for this area, for yours that may be right.
17k is what i'd say.

If your willing to drive keep an eye on ebay, that same car in say..wisconsin is not going to be that much as opposed to Cali.
