I know the WS6store.com sells shortened sticks as well as LS1speed.com There like 20 bux, unbolt the old one and bolt up the shorter one

you could cut a section off in the middle and weld them back together.

+1 for shortening it...welding it back isnt too hard and you can tack weld it and take more off if its still too long... just make sure you grind a V groove so the weld gets deep... good luck..

I just cut my Pro 5.0 stick. I cut at least an inch off of the threads and it's perfect the way it is. The boot sits right below my shift **** now.

+1 i just got a nut and ran it all the way on the shifter handle and cut about 1 1/2 inches off mine hit it with a wire wheel and ran the nut back off to straighten out the threads. it seemed a lil easyer to me then cutting and welding back.

Bingo! There's no reason to cut the stick itself. Doing this only nullifies the strength of the stick itself. I'm pretty sure the Pro 5.0 is a hardened metal and I would imagine cutting it and welding it back together will do nothing but cause issues. Could you imagine your shifter snapping in half on a hard shift?

I'm not sure what shifter came with my buddies but it didnt have enough threads to get an inch... thats why we welded... but the more i searched it seems most of them are supposed to...

A good bandsaw would make quick work of it.

Don't cut it and weld it back together. Cut off the amount you want off, then run a die over it to give you some more threads if needed.

I cut and welded my Hurst shift stick because I did not like how the WS6 store short shifter put my shift **** farther over due to the fact that it's straight, not curved. Driven it over 13,000 miles so far and it's perfect. There's no way you're going to break a weld done properly with only 3 inches of leverage to break it.

Do NOT cut and weld, just cut off the top. Cut and weld will weaken it tremendously.

Yeah the person that welds a stick that breaks should not be welding period. But if you like the angle cutting the threads sounds like a easy fast idea.
