Default Stock Vs. Hurst 6 spd.

What is the difference in these two? I have the stock, my roommate is giving me his Hurst.

Is it worth it? How tight is it? My 2-3 is slow, my 4-5 is impossible.

Lemme know.

I went from a stock shifter to a used hurst w/h **** and short stick and it was like a whole new transmission. I then proceded to throw my stocker into the potomac river. You wont be sorry.

My roommate said he got tired of punching his radio.

Night and day difference. I had the ropey, stock shifter on my 95, and when I got my 98 with the Hurst, I couldn't believe how easy it was to hit gears

I did'nt know the hurst came on the LT1's unless he got it out of a 01-02 ls1! But for sure i would put on a hurst from a 01-02 ls1 ss-ws6. My Brother just bought one for his 2000 z/28 off of a 01 -02

its pretty easy. the car i have is a normal shifter, but i remember driving a 2000 ss with a hurst. that shifter makes my stocker look like just a bunch of rubber bands are holding together.

Pick up a short stick while your at it. The Hurst base is good but the stick is still like poo. WS6store makes a good stick.

Default WS6 SHORT STICK & HURST

I had a WS6 short stick on my stock shifter. It mounted firmly and worked great. I then installed a Hurst Billet Shifter and found the short stick did not mount firmly and was only held by two bolts that did NOT screw into the stick or shifter-only the the two nuts secured it. I contacted WS6 and initially told I was wrong but when they verified what I was saying they agreed that Hurst had changed their design. I returned mine and hope they will upgrade for the Hurst.

Pretty much anything is better than the stock shifter. Hurst, pro 5.0, etc. All those are good shifters..

Didn't the 98-00 M6's come with a stock shifter with the Hurst as optional? I think GM put the Hurst in the 01-02 M6's as standard equipment as my 02 came standard with the Hurst Shifter.

The Hurst is an ok shifter - but stick needs improvement. A lot of people got the WS6 Short Stick, installed it onto the Hurst and got positive results - that's what I'm planning to do before I decide on getting the Pro 5.0.

My '01 came with the stock shifter. My 98SS had the factory Hurst, which is much better than the sloppy stocker. However, I have a B&M Ripper in the Z28 now, and I like it the best.

Hurst shifters were available as an SLP option on pre `99 Cars
`99 was the first year for the factory Hurst option.

I have factory hurst, and it has the ws6store short stick on it (atleast I think thats where it came from. bought the car that way) and its really easy shifts. Short as hell too. I'm probably gonna switch to the pro5.0 since every says its the OMGZ.
