I had mine do something similar once, but it was in all gears and the o.pressure was irradic. How violent are we talking in terms of the jerking at coast, a slightly noticeable or prominent? It could be spark or fuel, but I don't know how it would suddenly come back on at higher rpm. The maf looks like a suspect.

I was thinking MAF, but I justr used that maf sensor cleaner on it recently I wonder if that tampered with it, also someone told me it may be coil packs mine is under light load like 1/4 throttle around 2000grand in 4th gear and 1500 rpms in 5th it just feels I guess like a miss fire but I'v never really had a miss iv thought. I was gonna wait to replace the coil packs when I put in my headers and ory and o2 sims, I have an exhaust leak out of my AIR block off plate. but will see...

To answer your questions it slightly for me. what was the fix for your problem?

Once it was a was a crooked pushrod, then another time a tiny vac leak that was small enough the sensors weren't picking up on it. It seems a lot of people are having problems with aftermarket mafs on stock cars that aren't dialed in. You said you took it out, and there's tables that the pcm reverts to when it senses the maf is out, but I don't know if those are static, or if they're altered during learning of fuel trims.

Ohh well mine isnt that bad I might have a Vac leak where my AIR tubing connects to the Intake manifold was I just put a screw in the hose back there Ill check that out, I was thinking it may be my rear cause last night I did a 3rd to 2nd instead of 3rd to 4th( Dont know how but I still beat the stang) and it seemed to do it alittle more this morning so maybe some 4.10s are in my future=D

I switched back to my stock maf, reset the computer and drove it for a while and it didnt change how the car was running. It jerks quite a bit when coasting in gear, but its not bad,it stumbles at idle,i can hear a popping noise through the exhaust at idle, and i have also noticed a change in my exhaust note as well it sounds restricted almost?? It just runs wierd in all gears like its down on power but only in 3rd and 4th about 90% of the time at WOT it falls on its face and sounds like its loading up,and it is running rich, the back of my car is covered in like a black unburnt fuel! Could it be a fuel pressure regulator, the cats? I'm lost with this thing guys, haha

2kz28, 3rd to 2nd doing a wot run, running rich, jerking, poping. I want to say classic symptoms of a bent pushrod, but you've had this problem before the missed shift? You can check if it's getting spark with a timing light or an in line spark plug tester. If you want to check the pushrods, you don't have to take em all off, just give the rockers a good tug, any sign of give is a dead giveaway. With a miss I don't see jerking as a symptom, but with a valve not opening it definitely would.

Alright A few of my spark plugs werent tight found that out with the header install and a Exhaust band clamp had shifted against my drive shaft after all that got fixed it ran good but it just recently started hesitating again, and I think I have a vacume leak somewhere!!
