Yes it could be done, There is a way of using a Ford distributor, the part made to adapt the distributor to the LS1 is in the GM performance parts catalog. It could be used with a carb. manifold for the LS1. I would just use a carb before I would try to use TBI though.

1st and foremost your intake WILL NOT fit on that engine.

2nd TBI is junk

3rd That DISTRIBUTOR isn't the most ideal set-up...Keep the factory.

4th You can get a set-up from Edlebrock, etc that comes w/ an Intake and Ignition control

5th It sounds like your trying to pinch pennies. You should just keep your SBC and mod that.

6th LS1 is not TPI...it is MPI

7th Please reframe from using slang. (aka dissy)...Its a Distributor

Also..jsut keep in kind the LS1 may be a small block, but it is totally diffrent from the Gen 1 and 2 SBC's

Your best bet may be to find a COMPLETE 5.3 out of a 1/2 silverado, etc. Then just get a custom harnes..That way you have a great engine, and better EFI. PLus you can find the 5.3's pretty cheap compared to LS1's

Absolutely NOTHING is the same on your stock TBI and the LS1 . Yes you could make it work but it will cost you more than it could ever possibly be worth .........

Ehh...The LT1 isn't anything spectacular or advanced like the LS1...

Like I mention before..keep your engine and mod it.. Cam,headers, maybe a carb instead of TBI (more tuning, etc)

my motor is toasted there is no saving it, 320,000km burning oil and collant. the only reason for wanting to do this swap is i can get a better deal on a lt1 with aluminum head then a stock 350tbi motor, so my questioin remains the same, can a DISTRIBUTOR be put into one of these motors??

lt1 and ls1 blocks have no provisions to have a distributor. With the LT1, they went to the optispark and the ls1 block uses a cam sensor. The only reason LT1 intakes can be used on gen1 engine blocks is because the area where the distributor is can be drilled out to accept one.

Nope not right you can have a dist on a LT1. Just drill out the intake, switch timing covers. Ditch the opti like a used rubber

Bottom line, if youre going to undertake this swap, half assing it and putting in old parts is going to be WAY more hassle than its worth, and will drive up the cost.

theres alot of stuff that has to be converted to use the lt1 in any intake form into that truck. its a bigger deal then i think you think it is.

imo id get the cheaper 350sbc and run it. easy swap not much involved and not alot of conversion headaches. if your dead set on the lt1 start doing your research now, save up get all the parts ready and then when everythings ready do a conversion. that way youve had your truck up n running and wont run into 5$ parts issues that keep you going down the road.

trust me i had an lt1 in my s10 i know what im talking about but.....
just my .02 cents worth
