Wow, really helpful. If you have already gotten the car tuned without headers your prolly in pretty good shape. A retune isn't necessary. The advantage is you can tune the car to get the max out of the headers and !O2s.

No huge need to get another tune just yet but you might throw a code that says that your leaning out.

Not a real need to do it. I would though if you don't have plans for a Cam or Heads anytime soon. If you do, just wait till then.

since you've already had a tune I'd say probably not also. I put my headers on and got a tune a couple weeks later and it was like a new car. The tune made a big difference on mine.

How helpful!! THis is how post counts become so high. Is a tune necessary after LT's? No. I, like many would recommend getting it tuned if you want max performance out of them and dont plan on adding any major components to the car soon, otherwise you could be wasting money!!! Good luck in your decision

What exactly did they do on the first tune? You will probably throw a code after you get the headers without a tune.

I would wait on the tune until you do more mods like torque converter is you're an A4 or a cam.

in your original tune did you adjust the air / fuel ratio? if you did you'll be ok. if not you'll probably be running lean and not getting the max from your mod. A/F should be in the range of 12.6 :1 and 13.0:1. mine is actually at 13.1:1

Try trolling somewhere other than the newbie tech forum if you want to post that without giving some advice as well.

If you had your rear O2's programmed out with your first tune, then I would say no need. You shouldn't throw a lean code or anything. The lean code would be problematic and would need to be fixed as it would be dumping way too much fuel to try and compensate. When you do heads, cam, converter, or decide you want that extra little bit optimized, then it's time to get the tune. If you plan on doing a lot of things a little at a time, I'd recommend getting your own tuning suite, not handheld, and a wideband. It'll save you money in the long run, and in my opinion, you'll be more satisfied with your vehicle overall. Happy modding.

From what I read here LS1's most have the dumbest computers in the history of cars, to not be able to adjust to headers. Set lean codes Maybe I should go back to racing my third gen

It won't set the lean code. If it is, then there's something else you should be looking at. However, if you don't !cats !air !egr in the computer and you install race longtubes, you're going to throw codes.
