New to site.. Best way to spend 16,000$ on a Camaro
In the market for a new car and have about 16,000 to spend. Don't know if i should go for newer/low milage or spend less on a higher milage fixer-upper!! I used to own a 72 Nova but sold it when I joined the NAVY. Missed it ever since!! Must get my V8, rear wheel drive fix soon, so help me out ya'll! Seen a few2000-2002 Z28 and SS I like for sale but not sure what to do.

id go look on the forsale area, theres plenty of very nice f-bodies that are anywhere from close to stock to heavily modded and everywhere in between. I would try to get something with a cam/head package on it with a descent clutch and gears. mileage is really not something to look at if the owner took good care of it with regular maintenance. run a car fax and get the history of it. Theres plenty of great rides pushin 450rwhp+ in your price range with relatively low miles... plus a road trip home in your new ride is always fun...radar detector would be a good investment for that drive!!

Dude, you can find a 98/99 for cheap nowadays. Buddy of mine had $15K to spend, found a 98 z28 with 51K miles and got it for $7K. Having $8K left to spend, that car is going to be badass. Whether he decides to use it on appearance upgrades and a few bolts on, or full out peformance, its still going to be badass. And if your looking to make a strictly performance car, just look for a high mileage ls1, those are even cheaper, and since your going all performance, you wont really care for the miles on it becuase your going for performance, so your going to take the motor/tranny out anyways.

I don't know how much sense that actually makes. He'll end up paying thousands more for an 01-02 vs say a 98-99. And all to get a LS6 intake which he can buy used for $300 or new for $450.

I'm just north of Dallas. I was worried about a modded car because I don't know if I should trust the work that has been done. It's going to be daly driven (15 miles round trip to work) so I need reliability!!

then look for a car with good mileage with slight mods(catback) or something...im with ya, i wouldn't buy one that has been crazy modded either....but for the reason of it isn't "your" car

I would try to find the lowest mileage car you can in your price range. I got my 00 SS with 10k on it. It was exaclty what I wanted. Completely stock is what I wanted as well. That way I know that every single mod was done by me and I can see where the car started and where it ends up. Good luck on the search.
