I bought an 03 gto and was wandering how much horse power a programmer would add? And what was the best upgrade for under $1000

i don't know how much a programmer would add...maybe 10-20 horses, but as far as inexpensive uprade i'd start off with a cold air intake system. that should only cost you a couple hundred bucks at the most, and then maybe throw on a cat back exhaust with a 2 chamber muffler. flowmaster has a nice setup for a reasonable price i'm sure. the intake is easy to do yourself, and if your not ok with exhaust work or need a welder, go to a regular muffler shop and have them install it. K&N air filter is a good idea too. they are fairly cheap considering you can clean and re-use them.

I think a programmer would be much more effective after youve done some baseline mods. Id say intake+exhaust+short throw shifter is your best bet

YEAH, a short throw is a good idea too!! forgot to mention that. maybe 150 dollars. although it wont really add any HP, but will get you through gears quicker and easier

it's got the same engine as all 98-02 fbody's and 97-04 vette's, so the same way they make power

intake, full exhaust (headers), cam, cubes, power adder, the list goes on lol. how fast you are depends on how much money you have bro.

do the free mods by porting the throttle body and MAF ends the do the throttle body by pass those dont cost anything. then if its automatic do a stall. you can also do gears. cold air or a programmer diablo makes a real good program for those cars. exhaust wakes them up as long as you take off the cats. and easy horsepower is to just spray it hahaha
