Default Differences in Intakes...

What are the differences between the LS1, LS2, LS6, and LS7 intake manifolds? Are they all interchangeable with one another? And which one will make the most power...? Thanks for the help, just tryin to learn a few things..

The LS1 and LS6 can interchange with very minor changes (coolant lines and egr). I believe there are issues with the throttle cables when you put an ls2 intake on an ls1 motor, and I'm not sure about the LS7. I know as far as flow is concerned it's: ls1 < ls2 < ls6

I haven't been here long but I've gathered that properly ported ls2>ls6 but stock ls6>ls2.

In that case get a ported LS6 manifold or go with the new F.A.S.T LSX Manifold 92MM

LS1 intakes suck. LS6 intakes are ok. BBK intakes are ok. Fast 78MM intakes are good but the price is hard to justify. Fast 90/fast 92 intakes rock but require a bigger throttlebody and are expensive.

LS7 intakes rule but are NOT usable on the stock cubed LS1. In order to use a LS7 intake you need a 4XX shortblock and some LS7 heads.

For a stock internal LS1 the best intake IMO is a ported LS6. For big cams or heads/cam cars a ported fast 92 with a matching ported TB is definately the way to go.

No LS7 intakes are specific to ls7 type heads.

Once the ls2 is ported is when it starts showing good numbers however it's not much better than the ls6. The ls6 outflows ls1 and ls2.

yes, people have switched out the LS2 for the LS6, i have a book showing a dyno comparison on an LS2 motor, and the LS6 beat the LS2

So if the LS2 is a 90mm and the LS6 is a 75mm, then why does the LS6 manifold put out more power than the LS2??

it is not always about size, the LS6 has a much better design, runners, etc., the LS6 is a flowing machine, one of the best factory intakes ever made
