Default TB bypass kit question

I am thinking about ordering the BMR coolant bypass kit but it says "GM cars circulate hot coolant through the throttlebody to prevent throttle blade icing in cold climate conditions."

Now if i get the bypass kit then what happens in the winter? I live in PA and it gets pretty cold sometimes and it is my DD so I don't want anything to freeze up in there. I mean i doubt it will but i wanted to check with some of the more knowledgeable members of this forum.

Thanks

I don't know how much the BMR kit is but all you need is three hose clamps, one foot of 1/4" fuel line, and a 1/4" brass hose barb/splice. Cost me $4.xx

Not knocking BMR but you can get the stuff cheaper at the parts store like 9000th01ss said

the ls1 has 2 different size hoses for the TB coolant lines. the kit from BMR makes it a nice simple mod.

don't worry about the cold in the winter. the engine will heat up just fine.

yeh i went to a parts store and picked up a little piece of quick disconnect tubing and used the stock hoses and also the stock hose clamps again when i put it in there...also picked up some vaccum line caps to seal everything off on the TB...i had to buy 2 diff size sets of vaccum caps though as u need 2 diff sizes...i spent less than $5.00 and it it took about 10 mins

Don't cap off the tubes on the TB. Make it look clean and take them out, they are just pressed in and held with loctite or something. Turn and pull them out to make it look decent.
Here are pics of my -$5 set up's. First two are my Z28, second two are my SS.

I just did it to get rid of the hoses and crap and see what happens. Thats why I say remove the tubes instead of plugging them, get rid of the clutter if anything.

thanks for the posts everyone, i have more options now then i know what to do with haha. I love ls1 owners, i'm not bashing by any means, i think its great that people remove parts off their cars for no reason but to make it look nicer. Its classic. "Hmm, this thing looks useless, I think i'll remove it"

Honestly though, thats what i might just do.

Sorry if this was already said, but I just scanned the thread.

Some of you guys talk about using the hose barb...but why make a place for extra leaks to occur? Keep it as simple as possible...all you need its a single piece of hose and 2 clamps.

That's what i did.....run 1 hose and clamps for the ends, it's cleaner, & cheaper. You don't need any brass connectors.

What size hose did all of you use???

When I tried to do this with an 'in between' size (forgot what it was now) to compromise for the two different end sizes needed, I could not tighten down the intake side tube clamp enough to keep it from leaking.

I used 5/16 fuel line you can get at any auto parts store....I bought new screw clamps too.

If you're worried about the winter driving just hook it back up again, thats what I did.
