every vette that year was a 50th anniversary, and theres nothing special about it, it just happens to be the 50th year. its the same as an 02 or 04 z06, but the price seems good to me

Welp...my friend that works at the dealership i was gonna get it from put it in service, and told the mechanic that his brother is buying it to let him know all problems

Welll...it came back with a bunch, the tranny is abused he said, it wont stay in reverse if u rev up any, itll pop out and the rear end seal leaks....few others

Bottom line, it would be about 7k in work to fix if it ever went out or what not, this is what the guy told me....soo im passing on this

Thats all from dealer work though

He had a break down of what needed to be done and what not, tranny fork and reverse gear problem was 5000 itself

It sounds like, uh, don't go to dealerships for work on your car. You could get a built tranny installed for half that. Try to use that as a bargaining chip to talk them down on the price? Did reverse feel bad at all to you when you drove it?

I honestly havent been back since my friend told me that

But the mechanic showed my friend and my friend said he tried holding it in when he was giving it a lil gas in reverse and it just made a grinding noise, like it just never goes into reverse

All the other gears felt good when i was driving it like Friday....i shifted pretty hard into 2nd at redline....TCS was on so it just bogged haha, but felt good in all other gears

I emailed Futral to see what he says about price on trans and what not

So anyone think i should go ahead with this deal?

Don't get it fixed there. You could get it rebuilt to be much stronger than a stock transmission for less than half that.

No offense, but make sure the people driving aren't just retarded too... I lent my brother my T/A once, I have an aftermarket shifter, and he couldn't get it in reverse. Even for 24.5, if you gotta spend 3 or 4k on a whole new tranny, it's a decent deal for a Z06, I think, in my area anyhow.

Sounds like a good deal man, the car looks damn nice anyways. Good luck with it if you decide to get it.

i dont think that car is worth 24.5 with those problems.
will it cost 7k to fix? i doubt it, but still, after fixing it, granted you will have a built trans/rear, but will put you in the 27k range. and in that range you can pick and choose your z06.

I wouldn't pay 20k for that car. Just cause for one I don't like the way the z06s look compared to a regular one. Second, you gotta fix it. That car has been fucked with pretty good and I wouldn't go spending big money on it. Even if it easy and less money to buy this car and fix than buying one with no problems. Who knows what other problems will occur after you buy the car? I give it a no but go on with what you feel good and safe about!

The rear end leak is a very common problem on Vette's. It's the side o-ring, on the rear, on the driver's side that leaks. If you do end up buying a Vette, get the extended warranty with it, you'll most likely need it (seat tracks, a/c compressor, water pump, oil sending unit, fuel pumps, rear end leak, window regulators/motors... that's just some of the things that were most common to get replaced under warranty back when I worked at a Vette shop). That's the main reason I haven't picked one up yet; I wouldn't want to use it for a dd. They are fun cars though, and sound great with headers and exhaust.

Thing's happen for a reason....might be a blessing in disguise for you. Just remember when you get a vette everything on it has "corvette tax". It's a sharp lookin ride though.
