Default 02 ZO6 LS1 vs Fbody LS1, Whats Different?

Ok, heres the deal. My boss has a 02 ZO6 Vette rated at 405 hp. I have a 02 Firehawk rated at 345 hp. We both got the same motor, LS6 intake, Cam, lifters etc...etc.... Where the heck did that extra 60hp come from? Is it the PCM, Heads, Exhaust? Just wanna know cause maybe I could apply some of those upgrades to break the 400hp mark.

A z06 has an LS6, not an LS1. You have the same intake and probably block, but he has better heads/cam/springs.

The Corvettes also make more power from their exhaust setup, because the F-Body design/routing is poor and inefficient.

You don't have the same cam.

He has heads and cam over you, a bigger MAF, and a lighter car.

A cam in the mid 22x's to 230 duration should net you around 390 at the wheels with full bolt-ons. You could get a bigger cam like the ms3 or ms4 and then push more to the wheels than him.

Thanks for the numbers on the cam. It will def make my choice alot easier. I just want my Hawk to be faster than his Vette. Of course his hp numbers are at the flywheel not the wheels so I think I could overpower him with the correct Head/Cam package.

02 Zo6's can run low 12's at around 116+ mph. Going by what I've read online your gonna need over 400 rwhp to just to stay with one.

Oh,by the way I still gotta get my Mac Midlength headers, Ypipe and Hi flow cats installed so I'm sure that will help too. Its not like I wanna beat my boss down or anything..... I took him for a Hell ride in the Hawk and he was impressed.

Thats what I'm shooting for bro...I know our Fbodies are like the younger punk brothers of the Vettes but with enough muscle we can def. run with or run them down!

You can easily over power him with the right heads/cam combo!

Most stock Z06s seem to trap 115-118, with a few exceptions. A full weight F-body is probably going to need 400 to the wheels to make a race out of it. Since you're an A4, you'll have an advantage from a dig, but you'll have your work cut out for you from a roll. A decent sized cam and appropriately matched converter should put him in your rear view from any speed.

You'll need to make about 50hp more at the wheels to run with him.

not really. gears and a higher stall torque converter can work wonders.

Don't waste your time/money with mid length headers. You'll regret it.

This is true.....you'll be kicking yourself later if you go with mid-length headers.
