could you be more specific... I.E.... List the heads... The main difference between cylinder heads is the porting job. cc size difference Some are milled to create more compression.

actually 241's only came on 01-02 (and a few 00 mine being one of them lol) cars, course they are the same as the previous heads except they are die cast, instead of sand cast, so they flow a little better.

there's the link, also apparently 98s were different all together since they were perimeter bolt, instead of center bolt.

edit: since you have a hugger orange, yours is a 99 right? if so, and they havent been replaced then you have 853 heads.

853 are the original centerbolt valve cover LS1 heads, prior to that were the 97-98 perimeter bolt heads. mid 00 and up got the 241s. The guy with 317s has truck heads.

243 would be the best stock casting for a 3.90" bore block. These are considered LS6 Heads, but were also used on first few years of the LS2. As far as a true LS1 head, 241 are ususally the best flowing ones.

not to thread hijack, but since my 00 was made in november/december, would it have the newer heads?

ok i just found out that i might have gotten thrown for a loop on my head and cam package i bought from ebay. dont bash me for it it was pretty cheap and the guy worked at a performance shop and did this at home as well for a hobby. so i see that my heads are 241 but he said they were ported and polished and i think there is a valve job on them as well you can see fresh metal that sort of thing plus the exhaust valve is pretty damn large.
he said he flow matched them with the cam and it is suppossed to be like 6 something lift and 5 something duration(still trying to get a hold of the guy cause i lost the specs of it). do yall think this will work ok or no. not trying to hijack but very curious.

do yourself a big favor, never buy something like that from eBay...there is a HUGE list of sponsors that ----> way and they can get you set up right without having to worry about what you might or might not be getting.
without having your heads bench flowed and putting your cam in a cam doctor, theres no way to know what you got. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't put something unknown on MY car, too many things can go wrong and cost you an engine.
if you already paid for it, send it to one of the vendors here and get it checked out before you install it, just to make sure.

not likely, they did the newer heads around may (right before the model year 01) but the only way to know for sure is to look under your hood. it'll either say 853, or 241.
